Sheena’s Story of Spirituality in Ink

For many of us, tattoos go beyond the ink on our skin. They are symbols, reminders, and stories of who we are or who we aspire to be.

And for Sheena Chawla, who is an abstract painting artist with a deep connection to the universe and its energies, her tattoo became a meaningful expression of her spiritual beliefs.

In this blog, we are sharing Sheena's personal journey and how her tattoo, designed and inked by our award-winning tattoo artist Sakshi Panwar, came to life as a piece of art that connects her with her inner self and the universe.

The Artist’s Need for Expression

Sheena is not just any client, she is an artist who works with the abstract, and her art is often her voice. As a painter, she finds freedom in exploring the unknown and creating images that represent her thoughts and emotions. Sheena, though, continued to pursue her art beyond canvas. She wanted to carry a part of that energy with her everywhere, and that’s where her desire for a tattoo came in.

"I see tattoos as an extension of my art. Just like painting, tattoos are a form of self-expression, but this time, the canvas is my own body," Sheena shared when she first visited Aliens Tattoo Studio in Mumbai. What she said revealed a strong connection between her art and love of tattoos. For her, this wasn’t just about aesthetics or trends, it was about bringing life to a spiritual  vision that was there deeply with her beliefs.

The Spiritual Meaning of the Tattoo

Sheena’s tattoo journey wasn’t just about getting a beautiful design. It was a way for her to connect with her spiritual journey. The core element of her tattoo is the ‘Flower of Life,’ a sacred symbol that holds deep meaning in many cultures. Sheena views it as the source of creation and a reminder of the universe's endless possibilities. And as someone who thinks that everything is interconnected, this symbol spoke to her.

“The Flower of Life reminds me that everything is connected, and we all come from the same energy,” Sheena expressed. She saw this Flower of Life tattoo as a visual representation of her belief in the unity of the universe, rather than simply a tattoo design. She found meaning in every line and curve of the flower symbol, which became a constant reminder that the universe was always there to guide her through life's challenges.

A Journey in Itself

Our tattoo artist Sakshi Panwar found it a lovely process to work with Sheena. Together, they explored different elements that would make Sheena’s vision come to life. Sakshi and Sheena created a design that was both visually stunning and deeply meaningful after thoughtful consideration.

At the center of the tattoo lies the “Flower of Life.” It represents creation, unity, and infinite potential which was a perfect match for Sheena's personal story. Surrounding the flower are two circles, each made up of nine petals. The number nine holds a particular meaning for Sheena, so it wasn't any random number. In addition to being her life path and destiny number, it also has deeper meaning. Nine is often seen as the highest spiritual number, symbolising completeness and universal love.

For Sheena, this wasn’t just about numerology. It was about accepting her journey and the path she’s meant to walk. “The two circles remind me of the cycles in my life, the balance between destiny and choice. And the number nine connects me to something bigger than myself,” she explained. It was wonderful to observe how each element of the design had a particular purpose.

The Fading Lines of Expansion

But perhaps the most important part of Sheena’s geometric tattoo is the nine lines that extend outward from the circles, fading into ‘nothingness’. The idea that human life is meant to grow, change, and ultimately unite with the universal consciousness is expressed in these lines. Sheena described it as the ultimate goal of spiritual growth: to get past the physical form and experience oneness with the universe.

"These lines remind me that life is about growth, about expanding your energy until you merge with something greater," Sheena highlighted. I want to keep in mind every day that everyone is here to grow and change.

The fading of the lines into nothingness shows the journey, the slow fading away of ego, identity, and the self until all that remains is pure consciousness. For Sheena, this was an important message to carry with her, it was a reminder that life is about more than the material world, that we are all connected to something infinite.

Bringing the Tattoo to Life

When the day came for Sheena to get her tattoo, there was a quiet sense of excitement in the studio. Sakshi worked with precision, carefully bringing to life the sacred symbols that meant so much to Sheena. Every line, every petal was a reflection of the thoughts and feelings Sheena had shared during the design process.

The result? A stunning piece of body art that not only looks beautiful but carries deep meaning. For Sheena, it was more than she had imagined. "It’s like carrying a piece of the universe with me," she said, looking at her tattoo with a smile.

For Sheena, this tattoo is just the beginning. As she continues her path as an abstract artist, she also continues her journey of self-expression through her tattoo, a piece of art that will grow with her as she evolves.

In the end, the story of Sheena’s tattoo isn’t just about the ink. It’s about the meaning behind it, the journey of self-discovery, and the reminder of her place in the universe. Sakshi considered it an honor to stand by Sheena on that journey and help her bring the spiritual vision in a way that would last a lifetime.
